Busy Mom Blues

It has been a while since my last post and as much as I'd like to blame it all on the holidays, the fact is that I have come down with a case of what I call the Busy Mom Blues. I'm sure all moms (and even women who aren't moms) can relate. I can only describe it as feeling blah all the time--I'm not really tired, but still I have no energy or motivation-- and yet I find myself constantly on the go working hard at everything on the To Do List while adding more to it--up by 7 but not asleep until 2 or 3--Busy Mom Blues.
This particular strand has hit me pretty hard, although I try not to let the hubby or kids know it. For weeks I've been in the process of starting up my online boutique Chic Bebe Couture and have hit too many bumps in the road to count. We have discovered that the house we are renting is being foreclosed and our landlord never thought it might be considerate to let us know that we would need to find another place to live. So we are currently packing up and house hunting. The hubby's job is really getting old because of his traveling all the time so I'm begging him to find something else. And on and on and on.

I'm not usually the type to complain--hence the diagnosis of Busy Mom Blues.

What is the cure you ask? I'm not really sure. It usually just goes away with time. Thankfully, it doesn't happen that often.

So, thanks to all my readers and SITstas for letting me vent. I think I'll go take a bubble bath and try to forget about that To Do List.

Oh girl do I ever feel your pain! I have had the same road for a bit now, and I started taking a b complex vitamin and it seems to be helping the energy and blah feeling at least. I really just wish it would teach me to say NO but I keep agreeing to more projects and events! I hope everything improves for you and goes smoothly!

Jacie said...

Thanks, Lori. You're right, saying "NO!" to a few things would help. I just have to learn how. I tend to battle with guilt when I do say no so I just say yes too much. Hopefully things will calm down soon and get back to normal.
Thanks again for the support. It's nice to have other moms say "oh yeah, I've been there."

I hear you girl! I think it's totally normal this time of year. The holidays are over and it's like...now what!?! But hey, congrats on the new website! It is going to be amazing.

Big changes are tough, and it totally sucks that the moving change was thrust upon you =( I wish I could offer some advice, but I'm pretty inexperienced in these matters. Good luck, I hope everything works out!

I've been there too, and all I can say is take time for yourself no matter what. You need time to collect your thoughts and rest. Especially when stressful things are happening:) HUGS...I'll head over to look at your new shop.

Hey, I think your busy Mom blues actually crosses over to both sexes. I felt the same way. The holidays are over; it's cold and drab; the days are short. I've just now started to feel a slight upswing. Happy SITS day!

We all have days like that. Ironically my post today is titled "Highs and Lows" because life is not perfect...and it's the lows that make you appreciate the highs.

Good luck with the move!

And how unique these blues are....dads don't get these kinds of blues as often as moms do!

I completely feel your pain! Somedays I feel so busy and I look around and my house is STILL a mess and I wonder, what I did all day that made me so tired!

Ali said...

I was feeling that way yesterday after having such a busy weekend and having a slight cold my house was a mess! And when my house is overly cluttered, so is my mind. I'm hoping this week I can declutter my house, my mind, and my blog reader--I'm so behind! I think I need a bubble bath too!

Starting a new business will zap your energy! Just keep at it! Looks like you have some really cute things. Hope you find a house soon!

What is it about bubble baths? They really do seem to help!

CDB said...

Oh, how I can relate to this. Not enough time in the day to get everything done, not having a choice but to try, and not having a moment for ourselves. The plight of us Moms. I try to hold onto the tenet that some day, I'll look back and cherish this [often frustrating] time!

There is much support in these comments. Plus, today is a very exciting day for the country! Good luck with the house search.

Isn't it always the case, when it rains it pours! I'm sorry to hear you've got a lot on your plate right now. But I promise it'll get better eventually. Good luck on the start up of your business.

I hope for you the blues stay away! Good luck with your new venture. I look forward to browsing your products and finding new and exciting stuff for my baby girl! I am a bow and tutu addict!

Yeah - I have that Busy Mom syndrome too ... once in a while... like maybe every week or so... make that practically every day! ;)

Michelle said...

You mean the kind of tired where it's 7:54 and I was nodding off earlier? Yah.

Oh, and the cure that involves the bath... try it with a glass of wine and just one piece of really good chocolate. It helps. A lot.

Finding Normal said...

Happy SITS Day!
I hope you find some time to yourself. Bubble bath, bed with a book, lotion on feet with socks, glass of wine or hunk of chocolate. Whatever it is that you need. Take time for yourself.

Leslie said...

Ugh! I hope it goes away quickly for you. Definitely try to make time for you. Even if it's just the bubble bath, a walk around the block, a glass of wine, a piece of chocolate. Make the time to decompress. You'll be glad you did!

You're not alone. We all go through the same thing but it gets better after a while.

Good idea! A nice hot bubble bath always helps me when the blues hit. I hope you have a great book or a fun magazine to take with you. And a cup of tea... or wine.

Erika said...

I can't add anything to the other comments, but I just wanted to say I'm right there with ya!!

I know the feeling of not really being tired, but not having any energy or motivation. I try to take some time to recharge and eventually my energy comes back.

Jeanne Estridge said...

With no more sleep than you're getting, you should be tired! Give yourself a break, child. (I'm old, so I get to be grandmotherly.) Seriously -- take care of yourself, or you won't be able to care for your family.

I know that feeling. When I get it, I find it is always telling me to find balance...easier said then done, right? I wanted to tell you your things are BEAUTIFUL!

I'm sorry you are having one of those times...I think we all get them. You know what helps me? Getting out of the house and letting things go for a while. Just taking some time off and enjoying life.

it's amazing what a difference a bubble bath can make. I've been having a bit of a bout with that too: I'm 7 months pregnant, I'm a full time college student, we're moving in 2 weeks and there's something else that I'm forgetting at the moment but it can't be all that important or it would be chomping big bites out of my brain too. or maybe it is and that's why I can't remember... yup, time for a bubble bath
